Biography
Emily is an associate and practises labour and employment law, civil litigation, insurance litigation, and estate litigation.
Emily focuses primarily on labour and employment law, providing advice and advocacy for employers and non-unionized employees. She helps clients draft employment contracts and policies, provides guidance on terminations and employee discipline, handles claims for wrongful and constructive dismissals, and provides guidance on matters involving the Human Rights Code, the Employment Standards Code, and the Workplace Safety and Health Act. She is passionate about helping both employers and employees understand and navigate their rights and obligations in the workplace.
In her litigation practice, Emily assists clients with a broad range of claims, including defending insured claims relating to property, personal injury, and professional liability, and advocating for clients in estate disputes involving wills and substitute-decision making powers.
In law school, Emily consistently placed on the Dean’s Honour Roll, and received numerous course awards including highest standing in Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, Civil Procedure, Contracts, and Torts and Compensation Systems. Emily was a student clerk for the Manitoba Court of Appeal from 2020-2021, conducting research on pressing legal issues. She also participated twice in the Laskin Moot Court Competition in constitutional and administrative law, as both an oralist and a researcher.
