Biography

Dan maintains a broad corporate and commercial practice with an emphasis on technology and intellectual property law.

With the proliferation of technology in all sectors, Dan is committed to ensuring that technology agreements and intellectual property agreements serve his clients and contribute to their success. He also assists clients with developing intellectual property strategies for commercializing and protecting their intellectual property. In addition, Dan regularly conducts legal research and provides opinions to clients on how to navigate various legal issues, such as identification of regulatory and legal issues relating to clients' technology, marketing and advertising, etc. 

His corporate and commercial experience includes transactions in share acquisitions and sales, commercial asset acquisitions and sales, secured lending, and commercial real estate.

Committed to contributing to his profession, Dan has acted as a mock judge for the 2024 Harold G. Fox (Intellectual Property) Moot and as a judge for the 2022 Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. As a volunteer, Dan has devoted countless hours to Legal Aid Manitoba, the Community Legal Education Association and the Legal Help Centre. He served as Director at Large for the Manitoba Conservatory of Music and Arts. 

He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Law and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Winnipeg, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics (gold medallist) and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy (gold medallist). He has received several scholarships and distinctions for his exceptional academic performance, including placing on the Dean's Honour List for placing in the top 10% of third-year law students and receiving the Maitland Steinkopf Entrance Scholarship to the Faculty of Law. He was also a recipient of the Tallman Foundation Scholarship.

Dan is fluent in English and Filipino.
