Norman Yusim receives 2025 Volunteer in Profile Award from Canadian Bar Association

Fillmore Riley congratulates alumnus Norman Yusim on receiving the CBA's 2025 Volunteer in Profile (VIP) Award in recognition of his dedication to accessible and equitable legal support.

The annual award honours CBA Members who have demonstrated an outstanding contribution to pro bono work in Canada or their jurisdiction. Norm was nominated by the Legal Help Centre in Manitoba, where he regularly volunteers in the Drop-In Clinic and File Review Program.

Norm's career as a family lawyer spanned 43 years. He joined Fillmore Riley in 1988 and led the family law practice for more than three decades before retiring from the firm in 2023.

Throughout his career and into retirement, Norm has been committed to making legal services and education accessible. He currently sits on the Board for the Community Legal Education Association, and is a former board member of Legal Aid Manitoba, the Board of Jewish Education, Northwest Child and Family Services and the Children's foundation of Winnipeg.

Along with a close-knit group of Robson Hall alumni, Norm also created a bursary for Indigenous law students attending the Faculty of Law at the University of Manitoba, further showing his deep-seated commitment to inclusivity and opportunity within the legal field.

Congratulations, Norm.
