Fillmore Riley sponsors FortWhyte Alive’s #GivingTuesdayNow campaign

#GivingTuesdayNow is a global day of giving and unity that will take place on May 5, 2020, as an emergency response to the financial strain caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in the charitable sector. Coordinated by the team responsible for the annual November #GivingTuesday event, #GivingTuesdayNow will be a one-time special event.

After the Province of Manitoba declared a state of emergency, FortWhyte Alive closed its doors on March 21, 2020. Although FortWhyte is currently closed to the public until May 11, a core team is “holding down the Fort” by maintaining the site and operating the farm, including feeding the bison and chickens, starting seeds in the greenhouse, and getting the beehives up and running.

Fillmore Riley is an ongoing sponsor of the FortWhyte Farm flagship initiative, Growing Youth, Food and Community, but decided to give a different way this year to help mitigate the impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had on FortWhyte Alive.

Fillmore Riley has stepped up as the exclusive matching sponsor to match gifts up to $7,500 for #GivingTuesdayNow. On May 5 only, a $15 donation becomes $30 or a $25 donation becomes $50. The value of an annual pledge will also double for those who sign on as monthly donors.
