Biography
Matthew is a partner in the firm’s banking and financial services group.
His practice centers on creditor’s rights and debt enforcement. He advises an array of banks, credit unions, private lenders and other creditors on all aspects of the creditor/debtor relationship. He is retained to address defaults, distress and special situations involving mortgages, loans and promissory notes and a range of credit instruments.
He assists clients in understanding their security and surety positions and the range of enforcement options available in Manitoba to creditors anywhere. Matthew is a skilled negotiator, and he works with a team of enforcement professionals at Fillmore Riley to provide services to creditor clients efficiently and with the benefit of our institutional experience in this area.
An important part of this practice is Matthew’s knowledge of bankruptcy and insolvency law. He works with corporate and tax counsel to advise on reorganizations and restructuring solutions when bankruptcy or arrangement is a concern.
